Meet Strategic Friction

In a globalized world, we are often sold a narrative of seamless connectivity and "smooth" corporate expansion. But for those responsible for assets, people, and reputation, the reality is far different. Reality is defined by Strategic Friction - the heat, resistance, and unpredictable impact created when geopolitical volatility, social shifts, and business operations collide.

Strategic Friction is a platform dedicated to deconstructing these collisions. We move beyond the sanitized language of the boardroom to provide the critical analysis and "Red Team" perspective required to navigate a high-stakes world.

Our Philosophy

Safety and stability are not found in "business as usual." They are found in the ability to anticipate friction before it becomes a firestorm. We provide the resistance needed to test existing strategies, offering:

  • Global Risk Analysis: Understanding how international instability manifests in local markets.

  • Corporate Reality: Translating complex security threats into actionable executive strategy and governance.

  • Social Impact: Analyzing the "ground truth" of how seemingly far off geopolitics can reshape our collective safety and and business environment.

From Boardroom to the Front line

Our insights are forged from years of experience at the highest levels of risk management:

  • Investigative Grit: Decades spent on the front lines, including organized crime and high-stakes criminal enforcement.

  • Executive Oversight: Directing security and crisis management for billions in Class A global real estate assets.

  • Specialized Expertise: A deep focus on specialized insight including CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design), criminal behaviour and the interplay between geopolitics and social behavior.

In the world of security; risk never sits still - it is a living, breathing force that is constantly evolving. You are faced with a binary choice: remain stagnant and rely on outdated models, or evolve strategy to meet the new reality. If you aren't moving forward, you are already falling behind.

Strategic Friction is the "Insider’s Brief". We don’t just report on the news; we dismantle the underlying mechanics of risk to ensure that you, your organization, and your worldview stay defensible in an increasingly volatile age.

About the Author

Most security experts tell you they can eliminate risk. I’m here to tell you that risk isn't something you eliminate - it’s something you manage through conviction and design.

My career has been defined by the "Friction Zone"; those volatile spaces where corporate stability meets social unrest, and where policy meets the pavement.

From the Front lines to the Boardroom

I cut my teeth in the high-pressure environments of tactical policing and investigative intelligence. I was there during the Toronto G20; an event that serves as a definitive case study in what happens when a lack of decisive command emboldens chaos. I watched the smoke rise from burning police cruisers, a direct result of the "hesitation" that has since become the standard operating procedure for modern institutions.

I’ve spent two decades analyzing the evolution of unrest, from the Occupy Movement to the Trucker Convoy, and into the current era of Physical Intimidation and Social Polarization. My background in policing and Intelligence gives me a unique "human intelligence" lens: I don't just see the crowd; I see the coordination, the influencers, and the tactical vulnerabilities they exploit.

A New Lens: Bridging the Gap Between Business and Public Safety

I realized early on that a badge and a gun, while effective in the right circumstances are largely reactive. Real security has to be proactive and environmental. As a specialist in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), I am able to bridge the gap between business, architecture and enforcement; looking at a 50-story AAA office tower or a World Cup soccer match not simply as "aesthetics" - but rather as sightlines, natural surveillance, and territorial reinforcement. Helping to show developers, executives and other stakeholders realize that their "light on crime" design choices are often their greatest liabilities.

Why I Launched Strategic Friction

In 2026, we are facing a "snowflake" attitude toward crime that has left cities and corporations exposed. We are building high-density "smart cities" without considering the "dumb" reality of human nature and political volatility.

I launched Strategic Friction to provide a voice for those who refuse to use outdated solutions for modern day problems. Whether briefing a board on Sovereign AI threats or auditing a business's risk readiness, my mission is the same:

To reintroduce conviction, practical planning and intelligence-led security back into the global business conversation.
